Hello everyone, as you can tell from the difference in the website and the change in the Discord name, the TownyKingdoms Network is rebranding. This has been something I've been mulling over for a long time, and Kitty, Write and I all agree that this is the right move.
When I started TownyKingdoms back up after partnering with Write on The Golden Age of Piracy as well as The Bleeding Towny Server, it was just us. However, since getting to know Kitty and adding her network to the server, and as well as realizing what Write wants to do in starting his own skyblock server, it's bothered me that the name is still The TownyKingdoms Network. It doesn't really make sense, and it's honestly sort of confusing.
That's where this rebrand comes in. Ordinarily, a network is made up of other smaller servers with their own goals, and those servers go under one brand. The goal of this rebrand is to move in that direction, where TownyKingdoms, Wytherin and eventually Steampunk Skies are all under the same umbrella of The Elder Realms. The goal is to share as much as possible with each other, while still having autonomous control over our own servers and choices made on them. We already operate that way, however, some confusion stems from the network being called Towny Kingdoms since the Towny server on the hub is also called Towny Kingdoms, and Wytherin is not.
With the network being called The Elder Realms, we are trying to remove that weird branding barrier that we've put ourselves under. So, the servers will be staying, however it's a lot more inclusive and less confusing.
Now, onto the new addition. I mentioned above that a new server, called Steampunk Skies is getting added to the network. This is a server that Write has been working on for quite some time now, and we are ready to put it on the network. It is a Skyblock server with a global economy, which means that it is like a traditional skyblock in a few ways, but the economy functions in a different way. We're excited to be adding Steampunk Skies into the Elder Realms, and we can't wait to see what people make of it when we launch it.
And that is a bit of a big when. Right now, I'm working with a small team of original staff from TownyKingdoms to redo the first spawn we had for that server, and until that's done TK is not getting updated to 1.14.2. Kitty is updating Wytherin to 1.13.2 by vote of the community, and with a new focus on Magics. Steampunk Skies is being created from scratch, and Write is almost ready to put it on the network hub, but we have to wait for TK and Wytherin to be completed first.
For now, you can still connect using the old IP (play.townykingdoms.com) and as I get more things set up, there will also be an IP using the Elder Realms domain. Some things, like the Wiki, will retain branding from TownyKingdoms, and the short links will also still be tkd.ms domains.
I know this is a lot, but we think this is the right thing to do, and I hope you all are going to be happy with it as well.
